Why we built Calcvera
Financial decisions are full of numbers that are easy to get wrong: how long a credit card balance really takes to pay off, what a merchant cash advance costs as an APR, whether a HELOC beats refinancing, or how an income cliff can erase a health insurance subsidy. Many online calculators give a single number with no explanation, hide the assumptions, or ask for your email before showing results.
We think you deserve better. Every Calcvera calculator is free, requires no sign-up, runs privately in your browser, and comes with a plain-English explanation of the rules, the formula and a worked example — so you can check the math and act with confidence.
What we cover
We currently offer 23 calculators across 5 topics:
- Debt & Credit — Plan your way out of credit card and loan debt, compare avalanche and snowball strategies, and check the ratios lenders look at.
- Home Equity & Real Estate — Estimate HELOC payments and how much equity you can borrow, compare a cash-out refinance with a HELOC, and analyze rentals, BRRRR deals and DSCR loans.
- Business Financing — See the true cost of merchant cash advances, invoice factoring and equipment loans — converted to APR so you can compare offers.
- Tax Deductions 2025–2026 — Estimate the new federal deductions for tips, overtime, car loan interest and seniors created by the 2025 tax law, with your real tax savings.
- Health & Benefits — Estimate your 2026 ACA premium tax credit, Medicare IRMAA surcharges and Social Security disability (SSDI) back pay.
Who we are
Calcvera is an independent publisher operated by Creative Developer. Our calculators and guides are researched, written and maintained by the Calcvera editorial team, following the standards in our editorial policy.
How we build and check our calculators
- Primary sources first. Tax, Medicare, ACA and Social Security figures come directly from the IRS, CMS, HHS and SSA. Lending rules come from the CFPB, the Federal Reserve, Fannie Mae and HUD. Each page lists its sources.
- Transparent formulas. Every page explains the calculation and its assumptions, with a worked example you can reproduce.
- Tested code. The math behind every calculator is covered by automated tests that check results against known values — for example, standard amortization results and published premium tables.
- Dated reviews. Each page shows when it was last reviewed. We update figures when agencies publish new numbers, typically each fall for the coming year.

Privacy by design
